RECORD OF GOOD DEEDS.
MOTORISTS' " GOLDEN BOOK."
Tho idea of a "golden book** recording tho names of thoso who by their actions show goodwill towards motorists, which has been adopted by tho National Roads and Motorists' Association of Sydney, is favourably regarded by some members of the Royal Automobile Club of Victoria.
Mr. C. P. R. Hodges, secretary of tlio association, said recently that anything which helped to promote the golden rule would bo welcomed in the field of motoring. Little courtesies did much to sweeten oxistenco, and as the motor-car had become an essential part of daily living it was desirablo that a helpful spirit should bo encouraged between car users and pedestrians. In times when few people had cars there had been perhaps somo difference of outlook between drivers and non-drivers, and it would be as well if steps were taken to eradicate all vestiges of that feeling. Names already in the book aro those of Mr. W. M. Hughes, M.H.R., a member of tho association, who put himself to inconvenience to screw on a nuniber-plato that was falling from a taxi-cab and Eddie Howies, aged eight years, who showed thoughtfulness in placing an oil lamp on a "silent cop" during a temporary failure of lights, so that motorists would not run tho risk of accident.
