DARING THEFTS BY GIRL.
STOLE FROM HOTEL ROOMS.
DETENTION FOR THREE YEARS.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Thursday. Described by Chief-Detective Lopdell as a daring and nerveless girl, who seemed to have started in Wellington a trade known as "hotel barbering," Myrene Edlin, aged 18, appeared in the Police Court to-day charged with stealing a gramophone, articles of clothing and money. She was stated to be uncontrollable and admitted going to eight or ten hotels in Wellington and going through every room, sometime!! in the day timo and sometimes at night. She had got the gramophone by paying a deposit on the machine, and was leaving for Lyttelton when arrested.
The girl was sentenced to three years in a Borstal institute.
