FRACTURE OF THE SKULL.

An accident occurred oa the HinucraMatamata Road near the racecourse shortly after dark last evening, a youth Leslie Bezant, employed by Mr. Lewis William Ayling, farmer, of Hinuera, boing knocked down by a car. He sustained a serious fracture of the skull.
Bezant and Mr. Ayling, accompanied by two youths, John Alpin Carter and Duncan McKennon, were walking into Malamata when a car was seen approaching. The party of fouy kept over on the left of the road and faced away from the approaching lights. As this car approached another driven by Dr. W. C. Ring, veterinary surgeon, of Auckland, who was travelling in the same direction as the pedestrians, ran into Bezant. He was caught by the mudguard ai?d swung back against the door, breaking the glass window with his head.
The injured man was taken to" the Matamata Hospital and was subsequently taken to the Waikato Hospital. His condition is serious.
