VIEWS OF WOMEN'S COUNCIL. SUGGESTIONS TO GOVERNMENT. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] GISBORNE, Wednesday. The following remits wore carried at tho conference of the National Council of Women to-day:— That the Government be asked to make representations to the Government of Australia urging it to complete the proposed agreement providing for reciprocity i.n the matter of old-ago pensions. That the Government be asked to consider an adjustment of tho residential clause of tho Old-age Pensions Act, and tho lowering of the qualifying period from 25 to 20 years. That when it is necessary for inquiries to be made of pensioners, Government officers other than policemen should be allotted this duty. That the council is of opinion that in all necessitous cases where a chronic invalid husband is dependent on his wife, a pension should bo granted. A remit from Christchurch, that provision be made whereby a deserted wife and mother may receivo a family allowance, was referred back to the branch for fuller discussion. A remit was carried that in tho event of both parents having died, a pension bo granted to the children's approved guardian when necessary.
