LIFE OF PARLIAMENT.
LABOUR LEADER'S FORECAST.
Reference to the political situation was made by several speakers at a gathering in connection with the installation of the Mayor of Greymouth. The recent utterance at Hamilton by Mr. 11. E. Holland, Leader of the Labour Party, in which he exhorted his followers to be prepared was recalled by ,Mr. T. E. Y. Seddon. Speaking later, Mr. Holland stated that he did not mean that another election was imminent, but that his supporters should keep their lamps trimmed and oiled.
Mr. Holland added that ho could not conceivo of the Labour Party voting with Mr. Coatos' party on a vote of no-confi-dence moved by Mr. Coates or vice versa, so that the tenure of Sir Joseph Ward's Government was assured for the usual term of years. He, as leader of tho Labour Party in' Parliament, was in tho position of king maker or breaker.
