RELIEF OF UNEMPLOYMENT.
RESIDENTIAL REQUIREMENT, DECISION AT WELLINGTON. [by telegraph,—PßESS association. ] WELLINGTON. Friday. Indicating that he had the concurrence of the Prime Minister, the Mayor of Wellington, Mr. G. A. Troup, made it clear to-day that men who came from other centres or from the country would not be given employment on the city unemployment relief works.
Three months' residence would be the necessary qualification and this condition would be rigidly enforced. Each local body must look after its own unemployed, said Mr. Troup, by giving them work in their own district and retaining them in their own homes.
