DELAYS TO TRAINS.
NO " GO-SLOW " POLICY. MINISTER DEFENDS MEN. [BT TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Friday. The follovring statement was made, this evening by the Minister of Railways, Hon. W. B, Taverner: — "In a Wellington newspaper yesterday a message from Dunedin appeared regarding delays to trains, said reference was made therein to rumours of a "go-slow" policy. I do not hesitate to say that the men of the service are not actuated by any such motives, and that delays which have occurred have been due to incidents always more or less attendant on the working of a railway. "The circulation of such rumotirs tends to cause feelings of justifiable resentment in the minds of the railwaymen, who are rendering, I- believe, loyal co-operation and making every endeavour to meet the department's requirements." EMPLOYEES AT OTAHTTHKJ. AN EMPHATIC DENIAL MADE.
An emphatic denial of suggestions that a go-slow policy was being pursued or that any limitation in work had ever been suggested was the basis of a resolution carried unanimour.lv by a largely-attended gathering of employees of the railway workshops, Otahuhu, yesterday. The resolution added that employees had never resented the installation of modern machinery in the belief that this lessened employment, and on the contrary they welcomed all labour-saving devices the department cared to install. They deemed suggestions to the contrary grossly nnfair. .
