RAIN AFFECTS ROADS.
UNMETALLED ROUTES SUFFER REPORTS FOR MOTORISTS. Many of the unmetalled roads in tb<s Auckland Province were impassable after the heavy rain yesterday. The Auckland Automobile Association reported last evening that the section of the Hauraki Plains main highway in the Maungatawhiri Valley was under water. At 7 p.m. the water commenced to creep over the surface, but unless heavy rain continues through the early hours this morning the road should be clear to-day. It was also reported that 15in. of water by on the Thames-Pneroa section of the highway south of Kopu. Further rainfall will aggravate conditions thpre. On the Paeroa-Waihi route soft blinding on the metal has caused a very greasy running surface. Most of the clay roads in the lower North are impassable.
