A landing ground and petrol supplies alo located at Wavo Hill, 500 miles northwest of Alico Springs, but inquiries show that Lieutenant Anderson was not seen there.
At a late hour to-night nothing had been heard at Wyndham of the airman.
Lieutenant Keith Anderson had considerable experience on active servico and in England with the Royal Flying Corps. He is a friend of Squadron-Leader Kingsford Smith and was ono of his original partners in tho Pacific (light venture. He went with Smith and Flight-Lieutenant Ulm to America last year, but returned some time before tho llight to Australia was made. When tho Southern Cross was reported lost Anderson volunteered to go and aid in tho search and he left Richmond acrodroino on Sunday last. He reached Alice Springs, South Australia, oa Wednesday, having flown via Broken Hill and Marco. His course on his last hop to Wyndham lay partly over a large sandy desert. In a wireless messago from Sydney picked up last evening at lnvcrcargill, and transmitted by the Tress Association, it was announced that the country in which Lieutenant Anderson is now believed to bo lost is even more desolate than the Ivimberley district where the Southern Cross is supposed to have descended.
