GOLDEN WEDDING.
A gathering of close upon 100 guests met in the banqueting hall of the Farmers' Union recently to celebrate ths golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. J." Jones, of Penrose, Mr. Jordan, M.P., presided and numerous telegrams and cablegrams of greetings were read. Toasts were proposed by Mr. Jordan, the Rev. T. G. Carr, Mr. Routley, Mayor of Pukekoho, and (ho Rev. A Murray, and regret was expressed at (lie absence of relatives in Canada and of an tlder daughter, Mrs Duncan. Mr. Jones replied to the speeches.
During the evening musical ilomt, wero given by the Rev. Gait, Messrs. Murray and Nelson, a musical monologue by Mr. Liddell and recitations by Mrs. Foster. Mr. Jordan, on behalf ot tiic friends, presented Mrs Jones with a skunk st.olo and Mr. Jones with a wallet, of sovereigns and a* torch. A very enjoyable gathering concluded with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne " Mrs. A. Gill, with her daughter, assisted Iter parents in receiving and entertaining their guests.
