Clark, and ministers of all denominations, waited on tho Mayor to-day, and expressed astonishment. and indignation at tho Borough Council having given permission to show pictures on Good Friday. The Mayor stated that under the Standing Orders lie had no power to give effect to tho wishes of the deputation. Later, the deputation waited on the managers of both picture houses, and "they agreed to cancel the programmes.
