ATTACKED BY STINGRAY.
MAN WOUNDED IN LEG. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAURANGA, Thursday. An exciting Experience befell Mr. Charles Clark, of Tauranga, yesterday afternoon, whilo ho was netting fish with a party in the western area of tio harbour, off Omokoroa. Tho party was drawing in the not in shallow water, tho haul being a big one of schnapper and trevalli. A large stingray, four feet across from tip to tip of its flaps, was also checked by the net, and beforo anyono was awaro of its near presence it struck Mr. Clark a glancing blow below tho right knee. Mr. Clark immediately went ashore, where it was found that there were two distinct wounds about three-eighths of an inch deep. First aid was rendered, and tho wound bandaged. On reaching Tauranga somo hours later, Mr Clark received surgical attention. Fortunately tho wound aid not penetrate to any depth. Tho stingray was pursued in a dinghy and eventually killed. It had two stings, a long one and a short one.
