SCHOLARTIS PRESS.
NEW ZEALANOER'S VENTURE. 'Mr. Eric Partridge, owner of the Scholars Press belongs' to Hawlte's Bav. "He has established His place among the successful publishing houses in London within little more than n! year," writes a friend, who continues: " Mr. Partridge elected to reprint 18th century books, but, as an experiment, he published two modern novels, both of which have enjoyed very oreat succrssgs. The last jjrsat success of the Scholartis Press was Miss Norah C. James' novel 1 Sleeveless Errand, which attracted such remarkably good reviews a few weeks ago. ' Sleeveless Errand ' is a story of London, the London of the Cafe Royal, Piccadilly, and the crowded places where life is sharp-edged and the people clear cut. The whole action ot the story is confined to 36 hours, and the reviewers ha've agreed that it is a successful experiment for a new technique in novel-writing.
