In the House of Commons to-day the Foreign Secretary, Sir Austen Chamberlain, replying to Colon*!? J. Wedgwood, Labour member for Newcastle-under-Lvme, said the United States Government bad not approached him in reference to a conference with the object of arranging a treaty to guarantee the immunity of private property from seizure at sea. Colonel Wedgwood: Do the advantages to be gained by insisting upon our right to search vessels outweigh the drawbacks of armament competition, also the risk of bringing America into any war against ?
