tho Franklin Jersey Breeders' Club, lins been won for 1928 by Mr. W. T. Dazeley, of Puni, with his locally-bred cow, Ashley's Gem. Tho result of tho competition is based on the excess of butter-fat produced by cow or heifer over the Government C.O.R. standard, tho period being 365 days. Ashley's Gem is aged 3 years 359 days, and for a cow of this age (ho Government standard is 312.91b. fat. Tho cow produced 10.057.31b. of milk and 617.601b. of fat. Tho excess of fat over the standard is thus 304.701b.

, Ihe second cow is Mr. G. E. Velchich's Falconite Pansy, acred 4 years 27 days Sho produced 593.541b. of'butter-fat, an excess of fat over tho standard of 277.341b. Third placo was gained bv Mr. W. Craig's lieifor, To Ante Golden Tinsel, aged 1 year 324 days. She produced 501.161b. of butter-fat, an excess of fat over tho standard of 260.661b.
