LABOURER KILLED.
CITY BUILDING ACCIDENT.
BUCKET FALLS SEVENTY FEET.
As the result of a backet- cf hot bitumen falling on his back when he was working on a new brnlding in Wc!leslev Street East on Saturday morniEg, ai labourer, Mr. James O'Suilivan, aged 46, received injuries from which he died ia the Auckland Hospital in the evening. The accident occurred about half-past nine, when the handle of the backe», which had been hoisted to a height Oi about 70ft. became detached and the bucket and contents fell. Mr. 0 fcullivan was moving debris underneath, and he was struck a glancing blow in tba smairof the back. The bitumen did noi spread over him and at first it appeare hi-s injuries were not- serious. Mr. O'Snllivan leaves a tfife and * daughter, aged eight. He resided at 2d, Arthur Street, Ponsonby. Hfefjad commenced work on the building, which is being constructed for Smith and Caughey, Limited, only that morning.
