SUNSHINE ASSOCIATION.
ANNUAL SPORTS MEETING. Carlaw Park presented an animated scene on. Saturday afternoon when some hundreds of Auckland children held their annual sports meeting, under the auspices of the Community Sunshine Association. The gathering was the culmination of a scries of sports programmes, practised daily in the city playgrounds during the school holidays, and was regarded by the association as one of the most successful to date. Teams representing Victoria Park, Carlaw Park and Potters Park played cricket, volley ball and captain ball.
An interesting exhibition of work and handicraft was displayed in one of tho sheds. Mrs. N. E. Ferner, J.P., president of the association, gave a short address on sportsmanship, receiving a hearty ovation from the children. 'J he captains of each competing team presented framed picnic groups to Mrs. Ferner, Mr. John Court and the caretaker of Carlaw Park. Cheers were given for Mesdames Kingslcy and Coniyns, supervisors of the Carlaw Park and Victoria Park playgrounds. The senior cricket cup is to be decided next Saturday.
