WILL OF DEAD PLAYWRIGHT. MESSAGE TO LITERARY MEN. Australia ri and N.Z. Press Association. (Received January 11. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 11. The playwright Mr. Henry Arthur Jones, who died on Monday, included in his will a message dealing with the future of the theatre. He wrote: "Several times when I offered my best work to the public, regardless of popular success, I encountered condemnation both from the press arid the public. 41 I am convinced that England cannot have modern drama worthy of her place in the nations until the great body of English men of letters have a diligent understanding of and interest in the theatre. 1 ask them tp accept this legacy of a last few words in the spirit of forbearance and friendliness.' Mr. Rudyard Kipling, Sir James Barrio, fiod Sir Arthur Pinero are all indisposed and were unable to attend the funeral today.
