Easterly to northeasterly winds, moderate to strong, strong to gain at times in places northward of New Plymouth and Napier, and freshening northerlies ruling in southern areas Hough seas along the East Coast, especially northward from Whungarei, moderate on the we;; 1 era coasts. Tlio tropical disturbance, which developed north-westward of the Dominion, is'now approaching the northern extremity of the North Island. Expect, a gradual increase in barometric pressure. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —The anti-cyclone is now cent .ed east of New Zealand. Pressure is commencing to fall in the eastern Tasman Sea, under the influence of a depression advancing slowly from the westward. Indications are lor moderato to strong nort.li to west winds, freshening to gale force in places in and south of Cook ■Strait. Seas rather rough south of Cape Egmont and in Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere smooth to moderate. Moderate to strong northerly to westerly winds in tho Tasman Sea, and later backing to southerly in the eastern portion, with rough seas.. Weather still fair to fine in the eastern districts, but becoming cloudy and unsettled in western and central districts, with showers developing and later extending to. other parts.
