SALARIES TO BE RAISED.
SEQUEL TO RECENT SCANDAL.
Australian and N.Z. Press Association. (Received December 16, 7.15 p.m.) PARIS. Dec 18. The Chnmbor of Deputies passed the Budget by 460 votes to 120. This donotes thnt it was not considered to bo a party nioasure. Tlie deputies, by 262 votes to 254, resolved to increase their own salaries from £330 to £4BO a year.
This compares with the salary in Britain of £4OO, in Germany of £360. in Italy of £l6O, and in Belgium of £96 a year.
The Chamber of Deputies passed as an urgent measure a bill inspired by Madame Hanau and her Gazette du Frnnc, which prevents members from occupying directorships or other salariod posts in financial and industrial concerns, or from becoming the director or editor of a financial newspaper, without seeking re-election. » ■
