NOTES FROM NGATEA.
PROGRESS OF HIGH SCHOOL. [r.Y TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] NGATEA. Friday. At the monthly meeting of the Ngatea High School Committee it was resolved to abandon the project for a school swimming bath, owing to the expense involved.
The Auckland Education Board forwarded a copy of a letter received from tho commissioner of Crown lands with reference to the application for additional lUvground space. The commissioner said lie did not feel in a position to recommend tho application for tho whole,of Section 11 because its reservat >in for school pur poses only would not lie altogether in tho I>ul>he interest. If tho application was amended to exclude tho frontage to a rilopth of two and a-half chains it would be given further consideration by tho '.and Board. The board applied fot the reservation ot all the section except that portion fronting Orchard Road to a depth of two find a-half chains Mr. Barriball considered that the school would have the use of the frontage for a long time until it was offered for sale.
Tho headmaster. Mr. W. Chappoll, re ported a roll of 165 in the primary division and 27 in tho secondary division. Present indications were that an increased attendance in the secondary division would mean an alteration in the grading of the school and the transfer of a valued teacher n Mr. 11. C. Abel.
