LEADER SEEKS MORE CAPITAL
United Service. BUENOS AIRES. Dec. 13
Professor Edgar Sanders, (lie head of Iho British exploration syndicate whirli is searching for Jesuit treasure in Bolivia, has sailed for England, for the purpose of raising another £50.000 for the purchase of pumping machinery and other equipment. Mr. Sanders says the treasure undoubtedly exists, although perhaps it is not worth £10,000,000 as bad been reported. " In tbo course of our investigations, ho said, " wo discovered 280 skeletons, presumably of peons (native labourers) who •were employed to carry the treasuro to a hiding place. Most of them had cvidently been poisonod, and tlio others beaten to death, as their bones were broken."
It has long been believed that fho Jesuits left behind a hoard of treasure, when they were expelled from Bolivia in the 18th century. The English explorers went to South America in January last on their search.
