There has not been a great deal of fast work witnessed at Alexandra Park during the week, but from now on matters should become more brisk in view of the approaching meeting. When Jackie Audubon stepped out with Native Prince on Thursday he was inclined to tangle slightly. Like the rest of Shaw's team, ho is in capital order. The speedy Jewel Pointer is carrying a lot of condition. When he last raced he appeared to be a trifle stale and the let-up he haa experienced in the interim may freshen him up. Peter Lloyd is a solid little pacer and is working attractively. He usually accompanies Roma Biltgen in his work and trackwatchers are impressed with his etforts.

A maiden pacer named Choysa. ill McKendrick Brothers' ownership, in going exceptionally well and when started is certain to bo inquired after. A prominent Auckland owner was keen to purchase her, but so far no business lias resulted.

Gold Jacket, is being subjected to long slow work and is looking fit. Ho has good prospects in tho Auckland Cup, r.nd, provided ho comes through his final preparation satisfactorily, will huvo many ad-

Jn some of his recent outings on the dirt track at Epsom Ribbonwood'a Last has not pleased at all. He has been inclined to bocome nngaited when tho speed was turned on and hitched badly at times. Ho is not lacking in condition and has thrown off the lameness ho was showing last week.

Tho New Brighton Trotting Club's Summer Meeting will be staged to-day and again on Monday. Harvest Child nrd Sunfish may race prominently in tho chief events.

A general meeting of owners, trainers and breeders of trotting horses is to be held on Wednesday next, at 8 p.m., at Mr. F. Knight's shop. 237. Broadway. Newmarket.
