EDUCATION OF GIRLS.

LENGTH OF STAY AT SCHOOL.

The number of girls leaving school without completing any course was commented upon by Miss A. C. Morrison, headmistress of tho Epsom Girls' Grammar School, at tho prize-giving last evening-

The reason most commonly given was that the earnings of tho girls were required in the homes, Miss Morrison said. She often wondered if the necessity was teal, or if parents were too easily giving way to tho frequent desire of young people for change and novelty. Tt was a great nity for a girl to begin a number of secondary subjects and soon afterwards drop them without having acquired sufficient grasp of any of them for practical use.

M iss Morrison urged parents to leave their girls at least two years at the school, and four years if possible, in order to reach the matriculation standard.
