FUTURE OF FLOCK HOUSE.

MAINTAINING ITS FUNCTION. DISCUSSION BY BOARD. [dv telegraph.—rnEss association.] WELLING TON, Wednesday. The annual meeting of the board of tho Now Zealand Sheepowners' Acknowledgment of Debt to British Seamen Fund was held to-day, the Hon. Edward Newman presiding. Mr. Newman said although it might appear somewhat premature to deal with tho futuro of tho fund, as in all probability for at least five or six years longer they would be ablo to receive boys and girls coining within the scope of the fund, ho desired to allude to tho suggestion of Mr. L. S. Aniery to conserve tho organisation, with tho present methods and ideals, for all youthful British immigrants, irrespective of their fathers' services.

In view of Lord Lovat's more recent visit, ho had cabled tho High Commissioner fur New Zealand in London asking how much longer they might expect to get boys and girls who :amo rightly under tho terms of tho fund. Tho reply was that by 1933 tho number would bo substantially reduced, so that a year or two after that date they would probably cease altogether. It, was clear somo new arrangements would have to bo riiado in regard to the fund and buildings. Ho had a feeling that Flock House should remain for tho relief of seamen in sorno sliapo or form. Lord Jellicoo had written supporting this view.

Mr. G. M. Luke endorsed Mr. Newman's remarks, and urged tho claims of tliogo who, although not wounded or incapacitated in tho war, wero in need of assistance.

Mr. L. 0. H. Tripp said ho had gone into the legal position and it was quite clear thero was full authority to deal with such cases.

Tho report and balance-sheet wero adopted and Mr. Newman was re elected chairman of tho board.
