SERVICES TO BRITAIN. TRIBUTE BY A MINISTER. (Received November 28. 5.1.') p.m.) British Wireless. lIUOBY. Nov. 2/. The recent disaster to the lifeboat at live, in which 17 lives were lost, was recalled by a question asked in the House of Commons to-day. Commander <7. M. Kenworthy, Labour member for Kingston-upon-Hull, asked what was tho position of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. . Tho President of tho Board of Trade, Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister, replied that, subject lo tho provisions of tho Mercantile Shipping Act, the institution had always had full responsibility for providing and maintaining tho .lifeboat services on the coasts of tho British Isles. Ho did not think tliero was any reason for seeking to take away from the institution the right to perform tho great public services it had discharged faithfully and well since it was founded in 1824.
