NEW LYNN TOWN BOARD.
ADVERTISING HOARDINGS. The N'ew Lynn Town Board met on Tuesday, the chairman, Mr. W. L. Titchener, presiding. It was resolved that a number of additional street-lamps should be provided, thn Works Committee to indicate the positions.
Tho Post and Telegraph Department wrote stating it regretted an early morning mail could not conveniently be arranged, but it had been found .possible to dose tho Saturday mail from New Lynn at 5 p.m. instead of 4.45 p.m. as formerlv.
The City Tramways Department drew attention to a practice which was becoming prevalent of using the concrete highway as a racing track for motor-cycles. It was resolved that tho board's traffic inspector should pay particular attention to the complaint with the view of bringing offenders before a magistrate.
Tlio board's solicitors reported on the matter of hoardings and posters, and it was decided to instruct them to prepare a by-law to prevent any person from leasing any building or any erection for advertising or placarding any commodity, although such person might, bo in business and dealing in the commodity. It was resolved that the board's engineers be asked to inquire again from the relative Government departments as to tho progress being made in connection with the approval of tho board's plans for the proposed new Whau bridge. An application from the Kolstnn Rate payers' Association for a supply of water to tho estate was agreed to. Tho board will install a stand pipe and meter, and an employee of the board will be in attendance at stated hours to sell water at, practically cost price. The tender of Mr. Cruickshank for rornoval of (ho pound to the board's property was accepted.
