USE OF AMERICAN TIMBER.

Tho use of American timber in tho construction of the hostel at the National Park is criticised by Mr. J. A. Bush, chairman of the Main Trunk Timber Trade Protection Guild. 110 states it has como to his knowledge that considerable quantities of American timber aro to bo used in tho building in place of Now Zealand timbers. Oregon flooring has already arrived on tho job, and other lots of foreign timber aro to bo used.

Mr. Bush describes tho use of this timber for such purpose as an outrage and an insult to New Zealand sawmillcrs. Manv hundreds of sawmill workers are employed along the Main Trunk lino, many of them in the immediate vicinity of tho National Park, and there arc stocks of fully seasoned Now Zealand timber available. He asks members of tho National Park Board to state their reasons for authorising tho uso of foreign timber in what is to bo a national playground of New Zealand.
