The Lyons correspondent of tho Daily Mail reports that an epidemic of typhoid fever, involving 3000 people, threatens to overwhelm tho medical and sanitary authorities. The isolation hospitals are packed and already seven deaths have occurred.

A judicial inquiry into the epidemic has been opened. Tt is believed to be due to contamination of the city's drinking water.
