AUSTRALIAN MURDERER
RECOMMENDATION TO MERCY.
(Received November 27, 11.35 p.m.) SYDNEY, Nov. 27
Tliomas Butler, aged 54, a ship's painter, war, to-day found guilty on a charge of murdering Ellen Egan, with whom he had lived at Rozelle, on September 17. The jury recommended accused to mercy on the ground of his drinking habits. He was sentenced to death.
