UNEMPLOYMENT RELIEF.
TROTTING CLUB'S DONATION.
A cheque for £SO was received by the Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon, yesterday from tho Auckland Trotting Club as a contribution to tho Mayor's unemployment relief fund. The donation will carry a subsidy of a similar amount from the Government.
Tho Mayor said he was pleased to receive tho cheque, as the fund v;as becoming exhausted, and the donation would allow a few more men to bo given work. He hoped that verv shortly the loan oi £IO,OOO for tho erection of tho stadium at the sports arena at Western Springs would be available, and there would also be £BOOO to spend on tho works at »aiatarua Park. Both these amounts would carry the Government sudsidy.
