CANTERBURY NOTES.

PLANS FOR .AUCKLAND RACES. STRONG CONTINGENT PROBABLE. [RY 1 ELECiRAFII. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CIIRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. Tho track work at Riccarlon this morning was of very little interest. Ihe horses who were racing at ihe South Canterbury meeting at tho end of last week wero on tho easy list, and most of tho others also wero let off with light tasks. Hoylake gaF.oped a mile, tho reverse way, in 1.46, Red Heckle accompanying him for tho last six furlongs in 1.18 2-5. These two horses aro going along well in their preparation for the Auckland trip. Hoylake wil' be accompanied north by the two-year-old Desert Song, while Zeuxis will go as a mate for Red Heckle. P. V. Mason worked his team tho reverse way, but their tasks were not serious. Honour and Juleux was given a short sprint, while Goblin Market, Golden Armour. Philippic and Hazo separately got through easy pacing. It is probable that Honour, Philippic and Golden Armour will comprise the team for Auckland.

Count Cavour did a working gallop over about seven furlongs. He looks bright and well in view ol a trip to Auckland next month. AVharnclidc will accompany him for the hurdle races, while Money Order and Amor aro two other stable mates who may be included in the team.

Sir Roy, Front Rank and Court Jester wero associated in a six-iurlong gallop. They registered 1.19, but did it easily. Rapier did three rounds at half-pace. He ia in good order to start 011 serious work for holiday engagements. In the meantime, however, his programme lias not been definitely arranged. The final decision will depend 011 tho weight ho receives in the Auckland C'up. J. McCombe has Crown Area, Moorgas and Court Jester freely engaged at the Auckland meeting, nd they are definitely booked for tho trip provided they train on right. G. J. Pine is keeping most of his team at easy work ul present, but they aro in th« best of health for holiday engagements Twang, Noteworthy and the two-year-old Pixie Gold, a brother to Noteworthy, liavip been nominated for tho Auckland meeting.

D. Campbell contemplates u trip to Auckland next month with Battle Colours. 1". D. Jones will probably take a team north for tho Manawutu and Martou meetings. First Sight and Touwai will bo included.

G. Murray Aynslcy will not take any of his horses to the Auckland meeting. In the meantime most of his team arc getting through useful tasks. THE TAUMABUNUI MEETING. WEIGHTS DECLARED.
