SUBSIDY FOR NEV/ WORK,

Tho Xorthcoto Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. A. 15. Greenslade, presiding. Approval of an unemployment relief subsidy of £7B toward tho cost of laying mains in Stafford Road and effecting improvomcnts to llio liigivlovcl footpath nenr tho wharf approach was noti/irrl hy the. district engineer of the Public Works Department, Mr. L. B. Campbell. Mr. J. McEnniss, tho chairman of the No. 1 District Highways Council, forwarded copies of the specifications approved by the Mnin Highways Board for tho reconstruction of Oncwa and Lake Roads. Ha stated the subsidy of pound for pound would bo restricted to half tho cost of tho 18ft. concrete strip and 4ft. scaled shouldcis, Appreciation was expressed of tho action of tiio distuct telegraph engineer, Mr. E.
