The annual social <>f the Opotiki Municipal Fire, Brigade was held on Saturday evening, nearly 100 persons being present, including representatives of the Borough Council, County Council, Power Board and of the Rotorua-Taurariga and VVhakatano Fire Brigades. The Mayor, Mr. G. S. Moody, who presided, congratulated tho brigade on the formation of tho Firo Board, which would mean much for tho improvement of tho brigade equipment. Superintendent Anderson, of Rotorua, who responded to the toast of the United Firo Brigades' Association, gave interesting details of the growth of tho association. Ifo proposed the toast of the Opotiki Fire Board, and pointed out directions -n which financial assistance would be given to the board. Tho following presentations were made by the chairman: —Certificate to exFireman Talbot; medal for five years' service to Deputy-Superintendent, A. E. Reece; medal for 10 years' service to exDeputy Wilkins; bar to medal to Superintendent Stewart for 11 years' service.
