PARIS GIRL'S ORDEAL.
WANTED SLIMMER ANKLES. LEG LOST IN CONSEQUENCE. (Received November 25. 0.5 p.m.) United Service. PARIS, Nov. 21. A Paris business girl, who was about to lie married, desired to have slimmer ankles. She consulted a doctor who recommended surgical treatment. A surgeon said a successful operation* was feasible, and was permitted to perform it. lie removed A narrow strip of flesh from one of tho girl's legs. The anaesthetic failed however, and (he patient was fully conscious during the operation. After tho wound had been stitched and the girl had been sent to bed slio began to suffer agony. Her condition necessitated the postponement of the operation qui the other leg. Her foot began to blacken, and doctors advised that its amputation was essential to save her life.
The girl's fiance was hurriedly called, and a marriage ceremony was performed at tho bedside. Then the girl's leg was amputated. Slio duly recovered, and is now suing the surgeon for £4OOO compensation.
