STORMY KAILS IN HURDLES. BY AItCII Kb'. Mo,!I or till) winners at the Te Kuiti meetin.; on Saturday v. ere well supported, but C. -I mi I favourites did not faro altogether veil, as FrotLblower and Mervctle were the <mly ones to nemo. A solid favourite ill Stormy failed badly in the Kopaki Hurdles, and several vtlicr heavily-backed horses in Monetize. Uaianou, and Tea Time ulso let .their backers down. Ton started in the Kopaki Hurdles, and Stormy wan a good favourite over Tir.opono and Slur of the Feast. From'an excellent blurt. Star of the Fast and Abbotts Delight v.'cro soon in front, to lead past the stand from Tinopono, who win clear of Lady Spalpeen, Tcirriipecu find Master Arch. Tinopono moved up along the back and joined Star of the Fast ill front, tha pair leading across tbo top clear of Lady Spal11ceil, Tiirrupeen and M.ister Arch. Star of tho East drew out, ncaring the turn, and v.ent on to win easily by live lengths frr.rn Lady Spalpeen, who defeated Tiirrapeen by two lengths. Master Arch was a mcderato fourth, followed by Tinopono und Stormy. Star of tho East won well, being assisted by his fine t'oncing. Stormy was ilwuys near tho raar. and did not show anything like his truo form. Pekalahi fell it the fonco along the back, but was well back at the time. liudy Spalpeen made a decent •hawing, and should improve with tho race. Tho Awakirio Hack Handicap was a fair betting race, with ["'rothblower, Kerry ®nd Takutaina veiy evenly hacked. ml? W °" '" u " y 'eft. and Tnkutnma wns iB«! o'? 'ron» Lady Cynic, Sulla, ' / lu«*"Aw - ' Lady Cynio thß tQ P- a "<l into • rtwWll tl °w Tokutama, Fxothblowor.

Sulla and Flying Tresses. Onco they straightened up Frothblower and Takutama challenged, and Frothblower won a stood race by a neck from Takutuma. Sulla was three lengths away, third, with Lady Cynic fourth. Then carno Flying Tressos and Maurca. Frothblower ia on tho improvo and may score again soon, Kerry Danco was never prominent, and his showing fell much below expectations. Monctizo was a £'l better favourito than Valroo for the Maiden Handicap, tho pair carrying over half the investments. Monetise and Archeval wuro first to move, Arclieval leading along tho back from Rose Arch, Valuation, Valroo and All Wcni. Rose Arch ran to the front at the tup, whilo Valroo and Monetize moved up. Roso Arch was still in charge at tho turn, with Valroc and Monetize in closo attendance, and Ah AVer a next. Valroo did beat in the run homo, and scored by half n-length from Rose Arch Glcna Bay, finishing fairly, was a length uway third, and Monetize fourth. Next to finish were Valuation and Ah Worn. Monetize had every chance and failed only in tho last hundred yards. Valroo is lair utul should improve. 1 ourdefections lett eix runners in tho Tc Kuiti Cup, and Siaosi was a good favourite, with The Lover uud Schorr next 111 demand. Tmokoa found las una yuickest, and was tlie leader past tho stand iroin King Smock, Siaosi, Tho Lover, Translormer and Schorr. Xliero was little change along tho back until Schorr moved up on tho msido near the top, where tho Held bunched. Tuiokoa, King Smock and Siaosi wero m close coinpuny ai. tlie top, wit.l the others iu a bunch about a lengtll away. Tinokoa just led King Sinock at tho tarn, where Siaosi was handy and Translormer was moving up on the outside. Traiisloimer lima lied on well and won by thiee-parta of a length front Siaosi. Schorr was half a-longth away third, and The Lover fourth, King Smock and Tinokoa being somo lengths further back. Transformer was 011 tho outside all the way and deserved his success. Schorr got squeezed back on tho ienco at tho turn, otherwise ho would have given inoro trou file.

llakanoa was nearly a £IOO better favourite than Ripon Abbey for tho To Kumi Hack Handicap, und there was also good support for Glenstar. Whaka King ami Glenstar were quickly in front ami were tho leaders along the buck from Ripon Abbey, Nurjahan und Brampton. Ripon Abbey joined Glenstur in the lead crossing tho top, and they led into tho straight from Brampton, Nurjahan and Whaka King. Onco they straightened up Glenstar drew out slightly and stuyed oil to win by half u-neek from Brampton, who finished fairly, to beat Ripon Abbey by three lengths. Nurjahan was fourth, with Whaka King und Hakanoa next. Glenstar has improved, and was always going lilio a winner, although lie had little to spare at the finish. Ripon Abbey was near the outside at tho barrier, and had none tho best of it in that respect. Hakanoa had hu chance effectually settled at the first turn, where he was nearly taken off the coins© by Ramblin' Kid. There wero only five runners in tho Stewards' Handicap, but it wa3 a decent betting race, with Tea Time and Town Bird the best supported. Town Bird was left several lengths at tho start, Tea Time being first oui from New Moon and Liaison. Town Bird showed a great burst of speed along the back, and was in charge crossing the top from Tea Time. New Moon and Liaison. Town Bird wa3 still in charge at the turn, with Liaison, Tea Time and New Moon in closo attendance. Over the last bit Town Bird tired badly, and Linison came away to win by a length front Now Moon, Tea 'Jimu was another length back third, with Macroom fourth and Town Bird last. Had Town Bird got away on even terms with tho others ho would havo won. lfo appeared to catch tho tapes at tho start, ntid ilia effort to run to tho lead so_ quickly left him without a kick at tho finish. Mervetto was made an odds-on favourite for tho Puketutti Handicap, being nearly £3OO belter backed than the second choice, Tho Lamb. I'rinco Lu found his feot quickest, and made play early from Tho Lamb, Tinoiti, Tho Thorn and Mervetto. Prince Lit was still tho leader at tho turn, with The Lamb, Mervette, Waitzer and Tho Thorn all handy. Mervetto came through on the rails at tlio finish and won decisively by two lengths from The Lamb. The Thorn was a length and a-half away third, and Waitzer fourth. Then followed Bright l*,y and Prince Lu. Mervette was ridden out. at the finish, but won well. The Lamb was always in the picture, and will be improved by tho race. It may be tho same with Prince Lu, who wns having his first run since June, and made a good showing in tho circumstances.

Rombarder was a slightly better favourite than Bulolo for the Otorolianga Hack Handicap, with Whaka King a fair third choice. Bonibarder and Oscar wero quickest to begin, but when tho field had settled down Bulolo and Oscar were the leaders from Flitter and Bcmbarder. Rounding tho bend Oscar just led Bulolo, while Bcmbarder and Flitter wero handy. Bulolo did best in the run lionje. and scored by half a-Jength from Oscar, who defeated Bonibarder by three-parts of a length Whaka King wa3 fourth, succeeded by Ossirtn and Flitter. Bulolo won nicely, finishing too well for Oscn r. who ran his best race for sortie timp. Bombarder was going very well behind the lenders at the turn, hut failed to mako any impression in the straight.
