TO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening:—Fair to cloudy weafher is indicated, with cooler temperatures. Unsettled at times in North Auckland,and Waikato areas, and along tho west coast of the- South Island, with occasional showers in those places. Elsowhcrp, mainly fair to fino conditions should rule. Variable and moderate to strong breezes, southerly to south easterlies prevailing, especially throughout tho Wellington Province. Seas smooth to moderate, but fairly rough in Cook Strait.

The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: An anti-cyclone is now crossing £i'ew Zealand, but is of very slight intensity. The depression "over south-east Australia has become more intense, and had passed f{oburt at 4 p.m. Indications are for moderate to strong northerly winds, rising to gale force ut exposed positions fritin Cook Strait southwards. Generally smooth to moderate seas, but rising on tho west coast of the South Island and later in Cook Strait. Strong north-west to northerly winds and rather rough to rough seas in the eastern Tasman. Fair to fine generally at first, but becoming unsettled and showery later *ji the west coSst of tho island.
