DEVONPORT THEATRE.
RECONSTRUCTION PLANNED. For a time next year Devonport will be without a picture theatre. Early in tho year the Victoria Theatre is to bo demolished and rebuilt and refurnished at a cost of £12,000. Fuller-Hay ward Theatres, Ltd., tho fiirin. which controls tho theatre, is confident that tho reconstruction will make*' tho Victoria Theatre tho most modem suburban theatre in tho Dominion. Plans prepared by Mr. D. B. Patterson provide tor an auditorium 15ft. wider than at present, and this will increase the seating accommodation to .1000. Tho whole of the present freehold property will thus bo utilised and additional land has been purchased at t)io side of the bfock to provide for auxiliary exits. Tho whole building is to bo furnished "with tho latest type of do luxo tip-up seats, and special attention will be paid to the electrical installation, heating and ven|!ation. It is hoped to open tho new theatre about the middle of next year.
