VALUATIONS FOR RATING. SEWER AND LIBRARY LOANS. [ 11Y TELEGJtAriI.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAUIIANGA. Thursday. Twenty applications wcro received by tho Borough Council last evening from owners of property asking tho council to pass a resolution, in accordance with the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1928, to enable their lands in the borough to bo revalued for rating purposes. The applicants hold between them 141 acres in tho southern portion of tho borough. Tho council decided that the applications should lio on the table until tho next meeting, in older that they may be investigated by councillors. Tho Mayor, Mr. IS. Dive, said he did not approvo of rating on the unimproved value. Ho considered that rating on tho capital value was the fairest system and suggested that tho council take steps to bring it. Tho council agreed to tako tho necessary steps for raising sewerage and drainage loans totalling £13,850, and a library loan of £2300. Tho council acceded to tho request of tho Regatta Club to control tho sideshows on Begatta Day, December 27.
