The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—A moderate anti cyclone is crossing southern New Zealand, while a depression is located in the southwest Tasman Sea. Winds strong, south to south-east winds north of fireymouth and Akaroa. decreasing gradually, and latei backing to northerlies, elsewhere freshening north-east to northerly winds, rough seas between Akaroa and East Cape and in Cook Strait, moderate else where. Winds backing to northerlies and freshening in the eastern Tasman, with moderate seas, further scattered showers on the east coast, and later in West land and Southern Otago and South land, otherwiso fair lo fine.
