SUBSIDY FOR EQUIPMENT.
Tho Board of Managers of tho Seddon Memorial Technical College met yesterday, the chairman, Mr. 11. S. W. King, presiding. Notification was received that the Minister of Education had reconsidered the board's request for a subsidy on the £l5O donated by the pupils of tho school toward tho total cost c>f the assembly hall equipment, and that £75 would bo paid toward the estimated cost.
It was decided to endorse a resolution forwarded by tho Nelson Technical School
that a strong protest should be made to tho Education Department against tho increased foes for evening classes, especially those relating to apprentices. In" connection with the board's application for a grant of £8250 for the provision of facilities for agricultural work at Otahul.u the Education Department wrote regretting that no decision had yet been made as to what type of post-primary School would Ijo established in the Otahul.u district. It was therefore unable to assure that favourable consideration could be giv.'ii to the application, but consideration would be given as soon as a decision was reached.
