JEWELLERY CONTRASTS.
Opaque crystals in white; and various colours-are among the newest stones to ho seen in fashionable necklaces froiu Paris. There are very beautiful opaque crystals of chrysolite, a blue-green which is to be tho colour of many smart frdeks this season, and in aquamarine and ame thyst-grey. Armlets of opaquo crystal are heavy and oddly shaped and quite in the barbaric tradition.. Opaque white crystals are unexpectedly attractive when used with jade or onyx. Thick ropes of pearls witji cabochons of jade and fastening above the waist-line with a clasp of jade, Egyptian necklaces of beaten gold, gypsy chains of gay glass beads in scarlet, green and gold are all approved. Many necklaces finish 111 a pendant of original design. One of these suggested a magnet in shape and was of onyx, pearl and diamante, the necklace itself being of pearls. Enamel, particularly in scarlet, is iriucli used, and makes an, effective contrast, to pearls." Metal is also •'employed to form the background for cifrious designs in coloured stones.
