In addition to the votes of which provisional returns are now available, those recorded by absentees from their own electorates have yet to be counted. The official returns of the poll in November, 1925, show a total of 675,077 votes. Those recorded within each district numbered 640,868, of which 337,228 were against and 303,640 for prohibition, the majority against prohibition being 33,588. Absentee votes com prised 18,399 against and 15,810 for prohibition, the adverse majority being 2589 The aggregate majority was therefore 36,177. • The returns from the 68 licensing districts are shown in detail below, with, for comparison, the official returns of the previous poll. Owing to the changes in boundaries at the last revision, the comparisons are only approximate. Opposite the returns of yesterday's polling in Eden, Auckland Suburbs, Hauraki and Central Otago are set respectively the 1925 results in Roskill, Eden, Ohinemuri and Wakatipu. The Mid-Canterbury results are compared with half thfe totals of the 1925 votes in Ashburton and Ellesmere.
