HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

ADDRESSES TO MEMBERS. A magnificent display of stock and some fine roses and irises were exhibited at a meeting of members of the Auckland Horticultural Society last evening. Mr. \V. J. Wernham presided, and some interesting and helpful addresses were given by members. The roses came from the gardens of Sir Edwin Mitvhelson, Mrs. B. Wilson and tho Rev. C. L. Tuke, while the stock also came from tho garden of Sir Edwin Mitchelson, and was grown by Mr. S. Wiltshire. The irises were grown by Mr. G. W. Wright, Mr. Wernham and Dr. Frank Macky. Addresses" by Messrs. Wernham and WriglvK dealt with the cultivation and care of irises. Points touched on were the most suitable varieties, diseases, the large number of types, and tho long duration of flowering." Tho most popular varieties exhibited were Miss Marion Cran, Lord Lambourne and Madame Gaitdichau.
