MIDGE AFTERNOON.

KINDERGARTEN BENEFIT. To aid the funds of St. James' Kindergarten a bridge afternoon organised by a large committee of ladies was held in the lea kiosk at Ellerslio yesterday. The weather proved kind after all, in spite of the morning's rains, and in the brief glimpses of tho gardens which caught the eve on the way to the kiosk a perfect riot of colour from tho flower beds was to be seen. Against (he velvety lawns, deeply green after the rains, they were a delight to see. About 80 tables were in use, and the afternoon should be of material assistance to the funds of tho kindergarten. Mrs. J. B. Macfarlano, president of the committee, wore a frock of rose pink crepe flcuri and a black hat; Mrs. Watson Aircy, secretary, was in black georgette, with a yellow shoulder posy and small black hat. Among thoso who were present were Mrs. J. J. Kingston, who wore a striped biegc coal over her frock and bicge felt hat; Mrs. Whitley, navy blue jumper suit shot with gold and navy blue hat; Mrs. A. W. Perkins, navy blue suit and navy hat banded with biege and red; Mrs. G. Devore, black silk embroidered ensemble and black hat with ospreys; Mrs. W. G. 'Somers, vioux rose suit and hat to tone; Mrs. -A. M. Ferguson, black ensemble and high crowned black hat; Mrs. F. S. Moorhcuse, pale green crepe de chine frock, white fox fur and black hat; Mrs. A.
