WATERFRONT ACCIDENT.

WORKER STRUCK BY SLING. HEAD INJURIES SUSTAINED. Severe head injuries were sustained by a waterside worker, Sir. Jack Grant, aged 58, of 223, Hobson Street, while engaged in unloading operations on the steamer Kazembo at Central Wharf yesterday afternoon. A sling containing three cases of electric storage batteries slipped, one of the cases striking Mr. Grant on the head. The injured man was taken by the St. John Ambulanco to the Auckland Hospital. His condition last evening was reported to have improved, but it remained serious.
