THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. BREWERY SHARES ADVANCE. There was considerable activity on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, and several sales were recorded in banking, coal, gas and other stock. Holders of local body debentures continue to show reluctance to come on the market, although there arc many buying offers. Buyers advanced their final quotation for New Zealand Breweries debentures to 24s 3d, sellers 24s 6d. Government Stock, although much sought, continues to be firmly hold. In banks business was done in Commercial of Australia in tho morning at 30s, and later in tho day at 30s 2d. New Zealands maintain their level, and were again sold at 61s 6d. In coals Renowns, ordinary, which touched 17s 6d on '1 tiesday, declined to sell at 17s and later at 16s 9d. Tho market closed with sellers asking 16s 9d, buyers 16s 6d. Business was done in Westport Stocktons at 3s 6d, or 3d less than the previous sale a month ago. Auckland Ons sold at tho current rate of 23s Id, and tho contributing issue, which brought 17s 3d at tho beginning of the month, changed hands at 17s. A sale of contributing Northern Steamships was effected at last week's level of 6s 9d. In breweries New Zealands, which sold last week at 545, showed an advance, and two sales were mado at 555. More were to bo had at 555, buyers 54s 6d. Tho following sales took place:—Commercial Bank of Australia, 30s, 30s 2d; Bank of New Zealand, 61s 6d; Renown Collieries, 17s, 16s 9d: Westport Stockton. 3s 6d; Auckland Gas, 23s Id; Auckland Has, contributing, 17s; Northern Steamship, contributing, 6s 9(1; New Zealand Breweries, 555, 555.
