MUCH RAIN EXPERIENCED. Mr. H. S. Hill, tlio veteran West End bowler, who played No. 2 in Bremncr's clmmpion Dominion rink in 1924. was one of the official party which recently toured the Old Country, lie said it was a pity the first part of the tour, through England and -Wales, had to be played so early in the season. On account of this the greens were often heavy and sodden and the play suffered severely. One had to adopt a different stance ..nd delivery to meet with any success in the way of being up to the head. 1 lie trip was ordinarily successful ;is regards plav, while the management of Mr. <l. W Hard ley left nothing l:o ho desired In Ireland the experienced ram during the whole period <">f its stay, lho best weather and greens were "in Scotland. which was visited late on in tho tour. Even there the New Zealaiulers did not find the going nearly -is keen as it, was in Auckland at limes. The English players were past masters in Iho "up-shot." On account of tlie dead going the bowl was sent up with a little speed, but with little green, and the rosult was invariably a capsized head of a well-built position.
