OBITUARY.

MR. WILLIAM COOPER. The death has occurred of Mr. William Cooper, of To Rcinga, one of the oldest residents of tho Poverty Bay district, aged 76. Mr. Cooper was born at Deal Grove, Ireland, coming to Auckland in tho sailing ship Armstrong in 1864. Ho settled in Gisborne shortly afterwards. Ho was a member of the Ormond military constabulary and took part in the expedition that finally arrested the notorious Te Kooti. For some years he was stockbuyer for Nelson Brothers. Limited, and resided in the Gisborne district up to the time of his death.
