inquiry favoured. STATE VOTES AT GENEVA. (Received September 21, 7.f> p.m.) British Wireless. RUGBY, Sept. 20. Britain's rcijuf.it for inquiry into opium smoking in the Far Ea.it came before the Fifth Committee of the League of Nations yesterday at Geneva. Thirteen delegates, including six oil behalf of the British Empire, voted in favour of the inquiry, and 17 refrained from voting. The Chinese delegate favoured the investigation being extended to include other dangerous drugs and contraband, but he alone voted against the proposal. Thirteen of the 17 States whose representatives refrained from voting were European. The resolution favouring the inquiry was forwarded to the Assembly. It included am expression of hope Unit the United States will permit the commission engaged on the inquiry to visit the Philippines.
